Simon Cowell's home was the target of a "suspicious circumstances call" on Sunday, November 25, according to the Beverly Hills Police Department.

At 12:56 p.m. the Beverly Hills Police Department received a phone call from an unidentified caller who reported that someone within Cowell's home had been tied up with duct tape. The caller initially gave the police an address of a residence that was not in Beverly Hills, but later said the incident was happening at "Simon Cowell's" house, which is in Beverly Hills.

The Beverly Hills Police Department said in a statement that officers responded to Cowell's residence and contacted "The X Factor" judge and confirmed that the call was "a false report of an emergency."

No other details were immediately available and Cowell has not commented publicly on the incident. In March, Simon Cowell's London home was broken into by a woman who smashed a brick into the window.

Celebrity homes have been a target of pranksters in the past. Miley Cyrus' home was the target of a 911 "swatting" prank call in August. The call led Los Angeles law enforcement officials to believe there was a possible home invasion and/or kidnapping. The caller also said that shots had been fired at the actress' home.

Ashton Kutcher was the victim of a house invader hoax in October after someone called the Los Angeles Police Department using a teletype -- a non-traceable online phone service used by the deaf -- and claimed to be a woman who was hiding in the closet because there was a man with a gun inside the home.

Police surrounded and searched the actor's home and after approaching several occupants with guns drawn and briefly detaining three workers, determined that there were no unwelcome visitors.
