Hugh Hefner, 86, and 26-year-old fiance Crystal Harris, who was famously nicknamed his "runaway bride" by his magazine Playboy after calling off their wedding, are officially engaged again and have obtained a marriage license.
The two were engaged in 2010 after being together for about two years. Harris called off their wedding in June 2011, just days before the ceremony.
Hefner and Harris reconciled earlier this spring and she moved back to his Playboy Mansion. The couple picked up a marriage license at a courthouse in nearby Beverly Hills on Tuesday, December 4, the Associated Press reported.
Earlier on Tuesday, Hefner spoke to college students at a University of Southern California class called "Censorship in Cinema" and announced that he and Harris planned to obtain a marriage license, E! Online said.
According to Los Angeles County law, Hefner now has 90 days to wed Harris before the license is rendered invalid. TMZ and E! Online recently said the two are engaged and plan to marry at the Playboy Mansion on New Year's Eve. Hefner and Harris have not confirmed the reports.
The Playboy model did, however drop a hint on November 29, Tweeting an Instagram photo of two Christmas ornaments of a mermaid and merman bride and groom.
After the two split last year, Playboy released its July 2011 issue, which featured Harris on the cover alongside the headline "Runaway Bride." (see photo)
She told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show at the time that the split was "mutual," adding: "There was no fight, we sat down and we talked about it... for a while I've been having second thoughts about everything. I haven't really been at peace with myself lately. I didn't think it was really fair to him."
She also said "Hef's lifestyle isn't the most normal lifestyle. Multiple girls all around, it's not the lifestyle I wanted."
For years, Hefner lived with several Playboy models at a time. He continues to host parties and get-togethers with them and also attends events that feature them. Both he and Harris posed for photos with Playboy Bunnies at the Beverly Hills City Council and Playboy Enterprises ribbon-cutting ceremony for Beverly Hills Playboy World Headquarters on August 7. This will be the third marriage for Hefner. He and Playboy Playmate Kimberley Conrad were married between 1989 and March 2010. They have two adult sons - Marston and Cooper. Hefner divorced his first wife, Mildred Williams, in 1959 after 10 years of marriage. They have two children - Christie and David.
