Metro offers free rides on New Year's Eve

LOS ANGELES

On New Year's Eve, it will cost nothing to ride the bus, subway, or Metro-operated light rail between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m.

To ensure safe transportation, Metro is offering free rides during what is considered the peak hours for deadly drunk driving crashes and DUI arrests.

If you have one drink too many on New Year's Eve and are still out past 2 a.m., there are still several safe ways to get home. Metro Rail will be operating an all-night service but passengers will be required to purchase a TAP card.
