Miley Cyrus is mourning the loss of her 2-year-old dog Lila. The singer and actress revealed on Twitter on December 11 that the dog died and that she was heartbroken over the loss.
"For everyone asking... I have never been so hurt in my life. My heart has never been so broken..... Lila my sweet baby girl has passed away," she Tweeted.
"Broken. Gonna go MIA for a bit. Need some healing time. Thank you to everyone who has sent love my way. I need it," she later added.
Earlier in the day she Tweeted, "Can't think of one good reason to get out of bed today."
Cyrus did not reveal the cause of Lila's death. In October, Cyrus Tweeted that the dog had been hospitalized for an unknown reason.
"Please pray for my baby girl Lila... She is in the hospital. I am so heart broken. Please send out vibes for her to not be afraid & to heal," she wrote at the time on Twitter.
The singer and actress had just celebrated Lila's second birthday on November 3, Tweeting a picture of the dog -- which can be seen above -- with the caption "Happy 2nd Bday Lila :) (ps her birthday suit is just a Beet Juice bath stain)."
Cyrus is an avid animal love and she has four other dogs with fiance Liam Hemsworth. She adopted Lila in 2011, according to People magazine.
In November, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) sponsored a pig named Nora in Cyrus' honor for the singer's 20th birthday. The pig was rescued by PETA and now lives at the Kindred Spirits Sanctuary in Ocala, Florida.
The group was inspired to sponsor Nora in Cyrus' name after the singer and actress spoke about how much she loves pigs during a recent interview on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." The activist group also credited Cyrus for her previous efforts with animal rights including encouraging people to adopting dogs rather than buy them.
Cyrus was announced as one of the performers for "VH1 Divas." Other performers include Demi Lovato, Adam Lambert and Jordin Sparks. "VH1 Divas," which premieres live on Sunday, December 16 at 9 p.m. ET.
