Superman man fans got another glimpse of the revamped franchise with the debut of the first full trailer of the upcoming film "Man of Steel."
The trailer hit the web on December 11 and offers scenes of Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Henry Cavill in his full Superman suit, and Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Jonathan and Martha Kent.
The trailer kicks off with a bearded Clark Kent (Cavill) in the water, floating, with scenes from a childhood incident cut into it. It seems young Clarks saved his classmates by lifting a bus out of the water.
"My son was in the bus. He saw what Clark did," an unknown woman says.
"You have to keep this side of you secret," Jonathan (Costner) says in the following scene.
"What was I supposed to do," young Clark asks, "Just let them die?"
Jonathan replies, "Maybe."
Therein lies the theme of the trailer, Clark's responsibilities with his powers. The trailer also features scenes from a wintery landscape which is likely the site of the Fortress of Solitude, a shot of Russell Crowe as Clark's biological father Jor-El, Superman and Lois Lane (Adams) holding hands and Superman standing before the U.S. Army.
The film also stars Michael Shannon as the villain General Zod and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, the editor-in-chief of The Daily Planet newspaper.
Christopher Nolan, director of the new "Batman" films, including "The Dark Knight Rises," is also a part of the "Superman" reboot. He and his writing partner, David S. Goyer, have penned the script for "Man of Steel." Nolan is also on board as a producer.
Unlike the 2006 film "Superman Returns," which saw Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane and continued within the history of the previous "Superman" films from the late 70s and early 80s, "Man of Steel" is a full reboot of the franchise.
The film is set to hit theaters on June 14, 2013. Check out the trailer below.
