Kate Middleton, aka Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, is set to attend her first public engagement since she was hospitalized earlier this month for acute morning sickness, British royal palace officials said on Sunday, December 16.
The Associated Press reports that the duchess will attend the BBC's Sports Personality award show on Sunday, in her role as official ambassador of the U.K. Olympic and Paralympic teams and present the main award and lifetime achievement honor at the celebration of sporting accomplishments.
Kate has not been seen in public since she left King Edward VII Hospital in London on December 6. The Sports Personality award show will also be the duchess' first public appearance since the death of a nurse at King Edward VII Hospital who was the victim of a prank call by an Australian radio show.
Prince William, also known as the Duke of Cambridge, attended his first public engagement following the news of his wife's pregnancy on December 8 at the Winter Whites Gala. He canceled his appearance at the British Military Tournament on December 9 to be by Kate's side as she had come down with another spell of sickness.
Her pregnancy and ailment, which is technically referred to as Hyperemesis Gravidarum, was revealed on Monday, December 3.
Kate's last public engagement took place on November 30, when she spoke to students at St Andrew's School in Pangbourne - her alma mater. During her visit, she also played some field hockey.
