Oregon mall shooting: Sole survivor speaks out

PORTLAND, Ore.

The day of the shooting, 15-year-old Kristina Shevchenko and some friends had cut through the mall to catch a train home.

She remembers seeing a masked man dressed in black carrying what she thought was a paint ball gun. The teen heard shots, then felt a searing pain.

Shevchenko, who spent several days in the hospital, says the outpouring of support she's received has given her strength.

"People were sending cards, calling, e-mailing, saying that they're praying for me. And that really helps. It's a big impact," she said.

Jacob Tyler Roberts, 22, stormed the mall Dec. 11 armed with a stolen semi-automatic weapon. Roberts killed two people before killing himself.
