Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill and his wife, singer-songwriter Jessie Baylin, shared some happy news on Twitter.
Followill announced the child's name on the social networking site. Baylin gave birth to a baby girl on Wednesday, December 26, according to The Associated Press. It is the first child for the couple.
"I can proudly announce the birth of my sweet angel Violet Marlowe Followill," the 33-year-old musician wrote on December 27. "My heart has been stollen [sic] and it feels so good."
A spokesperson for the band told The Associated Press that the baby was born at 4:01 p.m. in Nashville. Violet Marlowe Followill weighed in at 7 pounds and 13 ounces at birth.The Nashville-based Followill and Baylin, 28, wed in a Tennessee ceremony in November 2009. The couple first announced the pregnancy in June.
Kings of Leon is known for hits such as "Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody" from their 2008 CD, "Only by the Night," which marked their first Platinum-selling album and won the band members their first Grammy. The group has three in total.
The band's most recent album, "Come Around Sundown," was released in 2010. The record received a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album in 2011. The band has been working on a new album that is expected to be released next year.
Baylin released her third album, "Little Spark," earlier this year.
