Ryan Murphy, co-creator of "Glee" and "American Horror Story" has shared with his fans a photo of his and husband David Miller's newborn son, Logan.
The boy was born on Christmas Eve and is the first child for the two, who married almost six months ago. Murphy, who rarely Tweets, posted a photo of their newborn son on his Twitter page on Jan. 1, 2013.
"Thanks to everyone for the kind wishes. Logan is one week old and doing great. Happy new year!" the 47-year-old showrunner Tweeted, alongside a photo of the child dressed in a white outfit with "2012" written on it. The baby is covered by a pale blue, knitted blanket with his name printed in white and lays on a plush, slightly darker blue throw.
The identity of Logan's mother has not been revealed. Murphy's latest TV show, "The New Normal," is a comedy about a male gay couple about to become parents to a baby born to a surrogate woman. The showrunner told Vogue magazine in an interview published in mid-September that he and Miller wanted kids and were "exploring surrogacy," adding: "I thought if I don't do this ... I'm 46 ... I will really, really regret it."n
Murphy and Miller, a photographer, wed in Provincetown, Massachusetts on the 4th of July. In 2004, following a Supreme Court ruling, the state became the first to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. The Boston Globe reported that the two men celebrated their marriage by watching Patti Lupone perform at a local theater. The actress had a cameo on the season 2 finale of "Glee."
Murphy and Miller were friends for years before they became involved romantically. Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview carried out two weeks after his wedding: "After years and years of dating [other] people, we were like, 'What are we doing? We're the same age, we want kids, let's try it.' Thank God it worked."
The two live in Beverly Hills, California with their two dogs in a lavish home, where they had hosted a fundraiser for President Barack Obama months before the November election.
"Since being with David, Ryan has just opened his heart up to love so much," Vogue quoted "Glee" star Lea Michele as saying. "In the past few months, I have seen such a joy and excitement in Ryan. And I just know that deep down they are going to be the most incredible parents. I am incredibly jealous that I am not their daughter. Because the Murphy household would be my dream."
