Kris Allen was injured after getting into a car accident on January 1, but the "American Idol" season 8 winner told fans he is going to be just fine and he is going to be a dad.
The 27-year-old singer wrote on Twitter that he and his wife Katy, as well as their dog Zorro, were in a car crash. The Tweet also revealed his wife's pregnancy.
"Thank you @ford for equipping me with a car that kept my whole family @katyallen @ZorroPup and the little one we have on the way safe," Allen Tweeted on January 1.
Allen later added, "Yes I got in a really bad wreck tonight and yes I'm having a lil baby. #gonnabeadaddy."
Allen's mother, Kimberly Allen, Tweeted the above photo of the singer where he is seen with his arm was wrapped up in bandages. She later wrote, "Kristopher and Katy are both pretty beat up but ALIVE! Thank you Jesus! They are setting his arm now and will have surgery tomorrow."
Kimberly Allen also assured followers that Zorro was not injured in the accident. Kris Allen told fans that his Out Alive Tour was still going to go on as planned despite his injury.
"Don't worry everyone I may have broken my wrist but the #OutAliveTour is still on," he Tweeted.
The tour has scheduled stops coming up in Philadelphia, New York and Orlando later this month. Kris Allen married his wife Katy O'Connell in September 2008. The two began dating in high school.
The singer was crowned the winner of "American Idol" season 8 in May 2009. The runner-up for that season was Adam Lambert. Allen has since released two full length albums, "Kris Allen" and "Thank You Camellia," and recently released an EP of holiday songs titled "Waiting For Christmas."
