Ty Pennington is returning to television with a show on the HLN television network called "American Journey."
The show will focus on people with unusual lifestyles who do not fit the normal "9 to 5" workday mold, like lobstermen and Delta blues musicians. Pennington said he wants to follow the growing subculture of entrepreneurs and creative thinkers trying to rebuild the country.
"It's about looking at our society. It's about looking at the way we live our lives," Pennington says in a preview for the show, which can be viewed below.
The show premieres on Saturday, January 12, at 8 p.m. on HLN. Each episode will air multiple times over the weekend on the network with a new edition starting each month.
Pennington, a carpenter and television host, previously hosted "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," until January 2012. He was also a fixture on the show "Trading Spaces." Pennington also appeared on the daytime series "The Revolution."
