Investigators said it all started outside Santa Barbara in Summerland. The California Highway Patrol said it tried to pull over a white Toyota Tacoma truck with two men that matched the description of suspected car burglars in the area.
The pursuit traveled through Ventura County and into Oxnard, where the driver and passenger fled on foot at the corner of Naples Drive and Northport Lane.
Authorities set up a perimeter to search for the suspects but only found one. The search has ended, but Santa Barbara sheriff's deputies will continue to investigate to determine the identity of the second suspect.
