Doug Reinhardt, a former star of the MTV reality show "The Hills" and an ex-boyfriend of its main actress Lauren Conrad as well as socialite Paris Hilton, is reportedly engaged to his "high school sweetheart," Allie Lutz.
On Sunday, January 6, Lutz posted on Twitter an Instagram photo of him kissing her as she flashes what appears to be a pear-cut diamond engagement ring and holds a champagne flute.
"Cat's out of the bag... #engaged #bestfriend #highschoolsweetheart," she Tweeted.
Reinhardt's spokesperson has not commented and the former reality star has not said anything about the matter on Twitter, as of Monday. That day, Lutz posted another Instagram photo of herself wearing the ring and standing with an unidentified woman standing on a boat, with the caption, "Celebrating with Kel! ??????? #anguilla #postengagement," referring to the Caribbean vacation destination.
In addition to being a reality TV star, Reinhardt, 28, is also an athlete. He played on the same football team as New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez when he attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School in California. Reinhardt then became a minor league baseball player but was forced to give up his sports career when he injured his knee.
"The week after surgery I go out with some of my friends and I run into Lauren Conrad and we hit it off and we started dating and the producers asked me if I wanted to be on the show and I said, yeah why not?" ESPN quoted Reinhard as saying about "The Hills" in 2010. "My baseball career is probably over so I might as well do it."
Reinhardt and Conrad dated briefly around 2008 while filming "The Hills," which ended its six-season run in 2010. He and actress Amanda Bynes were together for a couple of months, starting in late 2008. Reinhardt and Hilton, who is also a former reality star, dated between 2009 and 2010.
Lutz has also appeared on several episodes of "The Hills," playing a rival of another main star, Kristin Cavallari, who is engaged herself to NFL player Jay Cutler. The two welcomed a son in August 2012.
