FOX has renewed its crime-themed comedy series "Bones," which stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel, for a ninth season.
The network announced the news on Tuesday, January 8.
"After more than 150 episodes, BONES continues to be one of television's most dynamic and consistent dramas, Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company, said in a statement obtained by OTRC.com. "We at FOX, along with millions of zealous fans, look forward to seeing where the incredible creative team takes the series next season."
"Bones" debuted in 2005. Boreanaz plays FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth. Deschanel portrays his girlfriend Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan, a forensic anthropologist who can read clues in the bones of victims. The two are also parents to a little girl.

"The best thing about the Bones pick up for Season 9 is the outpouring of joy from the fans," "Bones" creator Hart Hanson Tweeted. "Thanks for your fidelity in a fickle world."
Executive producer Stephen Nathan, aka @squarechicken, Tweeted: "#Bones season 9! At least 22 more murders, 14 jokes, 46 kisses, 2 scoops of mint chocolate chip, 1 case of stomach flu, and a boiled egg. Thanks to all our obsessed viewers for guaranteeing #Bones gets another season."
"63 donuts, endless dirty diapers, and 31 bottles of wine," he added.
