Rosie O'Donnell and her wife, Michelle Rounds, have adopted a baby girl named Dakota, about seven months after they wed.
The couple's new daughter, who is O'Donnell's fifth child, was born on January 5 and weighed 5 pounds and 5 ounces, O'Donnell's spokesperson told OTRC.com on Wednesday, adding that the "moms and baby are happy and healthy."
The actress and comedienne posted a photo of herself with her wife and new child on Instagram.
'We r thrilled to announce the arrival of r daughter Dakota - #withloveandthanks - AMEN,' O'Donnell Tweeted.
She had said in January 2012 that she and her wife were looking to add a baby to their family. She told Dr. Oz on her short-lived OWN talk series "The Rosie Show" that Rounds was "trying to get pregnant."
The couple wed on June 9, 2012, just before Rounds underwent surgery to remove Desmoid tumors.
Two weeks beforehand, O'Donnell was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack.
Rounds is a corporate head hunter in New York and has no children of her own. O'Donnell was previously married to long-time partner Kelli Carpenter from 2004 to 2007. The couple share three adopted children -- sons Parker and Blake and daughter Chelsea -- and Carpenter gave birth to their daughter Vivienne Rose, in 2002.
