Woman pleads not guilty in toddler's chili-powder death

APPLE VALLEY, Calif.

Amanda Sorenson, 21, was arraigned Thursday in Victorville. The victim, Joilene, is the daughter of Sorenson's boyfriend.

Authorities said Joilene went into a seizure Sunday after ingesting the powder, and later died at a hospital. Autopsy results are still pending.

Sorenson has been charged with murder and child assault. She was being held on $1 million bail.
