Britney Spears fiance Jason Trawick have called it quits.
Spears' spokesperson confirmed in a statement to OTRC.com that Spears and Trawick mutually agreed to end their engagement.
"Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement," Spears said in a joint statement with Trawick. "I'll always adore him and we will remain great friends."
She added, "As two mature adults, they came to the difficult decision to go their separate ways while continuing to remain friends."
"As this chapter ends for us a new one begins," Trawick said. "I love and cherish her and her boys and we will be close forever."
The pop singer and Trawick became engaged on December 15, 2011. The pair had been dating since the summer of 2009. Prior to that, the two had a professional relationship as Trawick was Spears' manager. The couple ended their professional ties in May 2010 to "focus on their personal relationship."
In April 2012, Trawick became Spears' co-conservator alongside the pop star's father Jamie Spears. However, OTRC.com has learned that the Los Angeles court received Trawick's resignation as Spears' co-conservator and is no longer her co-conservator. As the sole conservator, Jamie Spears has control over several decision-making aspects of Spears' personal life but not in managing her assets.
Earlier today, Spears confirmed she was leaving "The X Factor" after one season.
"I've made the very difficult decision not to return for another season," Spears said in a statement to OTRC.com on Friday, January 11. "I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens but it's time for me to get back in the studio."
