The National Weather Service said hard freezes are expected across most valleys, along with portions of the coast. Frost will be possible for the Los Angeles County coast, with temperatures plummeting to the 30s.
Frost advisories and freeze watches and warnings were issued for much of the region through 9 a.m. Monday.
The Grapevine stretch of the 5 Freeway reopened Saturday after an early morning closure due to snow and ice.
CHP triggered the closure at about 3 a.m. and lifted it at about 7:30 a.m. Northbound traffic was diverted at Parker Road and southbound at Smokey Bear Road. It was the second time in three days the roadway has been shut down.
The recent cold snap dropped temps in the valley as well. The wintery weather caught some off guard while others bundled up to fight the cold.
Out-of-state visitors said they weren't expecting such cold weather in Southern California.
In Big Bear, the snow meant good news for skiers and snowboarders, who hit the slopes packed with fresh powder.
