OTRC: Oscar nominee Naomi Watts wears pink gown to G'Day USA gala (Poll)

Naomi Watts, who is nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe for her role in the film "The Impossible," was pretty in pink at the G'Day USA Black Tie Gala on Saturday, January 12.

The Australian actress wore a sleeveless, pale pink halterneck Gucci gown, a gold Ferragamo "Edith" clutch and Jennifer Meyer jewelry to the event at the JW Marriott hotel, near L.A. Live in Los Angeles. She was accompanied by her partner and fellow actor Liev Schreiber.

Also on Saturday, the two attended a Showtime cable channel party at the Chateau Marmont hotel in West Hollywood to celebrate nominees of the 2013 Golden Globes Awards, which take place on Sunday.

The 2013 Oscars take place on February 24 and the nominees were announced on January 10. Watts was moved to tears after she heard she was one of them, but it was not because of the Academy's recognition of her acting skills.

The movie is based on a true story. Watts and Ewan McGregor play a husband and wife who go on vacation with their children in Thailand and then become separated after the devastating tsunami that destroyed parts of the area in 2004.

The actress has been keeping in touch with the woman who inspired her character, Spanish doctor Maria Belon, and said she contacted her on the day of the Oscar nominations, on January 10.

"She sent me an email," Watts told OTRC.com. "She writes beautifully. She always writes great letters and they always make me cry and of course this one was no exception. I received it a couple of hours ago and she said, 'I love, love, love, love you and now I love, love, love, love the Academy.'"

Watts is nominated for Best Leading Actress, along with Jessica Chastain of "Zero Dark Thirty," Jennifer Lawrence of "Silver Linings Playbook," Emmanuelle Riva of "Amour" and Quvenzhane Wallis of "Beasts of the Southern Wild." This is Watts' second Oscar nomination -- she received her first nod for her role in the 2003 film "21 Grams."
