Justin Timberlake, who hinted about a music comeback last week with a mysterious video, has fulfilled his promise.
The pop singer has released a new single, "Suit & Tie," featuring hip hop star and producer Jay-Z. The R&B track, which contains explicit lyrics, was posted on Timberlake's website, on iTunes and on MySpace -- which he partially owns -- on Sunday. It is his first solo song in a more than six years. His most recent album, "FutureSex/LoveSounds," was released in 2006. Timberlake was also featured on Timbaland's 2009 single "Carry Out."
"Suit & Tie" is the first release from Timberlake's upcoming album, "The 20/20 Experience," which is due out this year, RCA Records said in a statement, adding that the song was was co-written by the singer, Timbaland, Jay-Z, Jerome "J-ROC" Harmon and James Flauntleroy.
"Back in June of last year, I quietly started working on what is now, my next journey with that thing I love called MUSIC," Timberlake said on his website. "The inspiration for this really came out of the blue and to be honest, I didn't expect anything out of it. I just went into the studio and started playing around with some sounds and songs."
"What I came up with is something I couldn't be more excited about! It is full of inspiration that I grew up listening to and some newfound muses that I've discovered along the way," he said. "I'm calling it 'The 20/20 Experience,' and it's coming out this year. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it. That's all I'm giving you for now... I know, I know! Again, with the teasing!!!"
Billboard had reported that Timberlake's new album was produced by Timbaland and will contain 20 new tracks.
