Jessica Simpson stopped by "The Tonight Show" on Tuesday, January 15, and opened up to host Jay Leno about her second pregnancy and how it's different from the first.
When Leno asked if her second pregnancy was planned Simpson said, "Oh no. Nope. Apparently it was a part of God's plan for my life." Her interview can be seen below.
"I was extremely shocked," Simpson added. "I was shocked because I was going through a lot of hormonal changes trying to get back to the old vibrant Jessica and, you know, it was kind of like a one night stand and it happened all over again."
She revealed the baby is due in the summer. It will be the second child for both Simpson and fiance Eric Johnson.
"I still have a ways to go. Hopefully I start feeling better. This pregnancy is a lot different than my first one," she said.Simpson also talked about how she is taking a healthier approach to her second pregnancy because of the amount of weight she gained during the first one. Simpson, who is 5'4" tall, has said in the past that when she posed nude and pregnant on the April 2012 cover of Elle Magazine, she weighed 170 pounds.
Simpson had been criticized by many people online over her weight gain during her first pregnancy, which some said was excessive, and over her figure in the weeks after giving birth. She signed a multi-million dollar deal to become a spokesmodel for Weight Waters.
"The last time I kind of ate everything in sight," she said on "The Tonight Show." "I was really happy to be pregnant and I just didn't even step on the scale. I was the person that turned around and said, 'Just don't tell me, I'm having fun.'"
"I guess I just didn't realize you could gain that much weight that quickly," she added. "Once I had Maxwell, I realized that it all just wasn't water weight."
Simpson appeared in a Weight Watchers ad in December where she revealed she had lost more than 50 pounds thanks to the diet program.
"I felt really hot, and I thought I deserved a Kim Kardashian moment, you know? I was really feeling it, like, 'Oh, my bump looks cute. I'm going to share that,'" she said about the photo.
Simpson also spoke about the sitcom that is being developed by NBC about Simpson's life. Simpson will star in the show and serve as an executive producer, according to E! News. The sitcom does not yet have a title.
"It's basically loosely based on my life," she said. "I will be playing myself, which is pretty easy."
"We're just now in the process of casting," she added. "I will be playing myself but we'll have actors playing Eric and my dad, which will be funny."
