Kelly Ripa admits in a new interview that she gets Botox injections on her eyelids and occasionally in her armpits to avoid sweating.
The 42-year-old was interviewed for Elle magazine and the interviewer follows Ripa to a New York City spin class. Writer Irina Aleksander notes that once the intense class is over, Ripa looks almost the same as she had arrived.
"It's the Botox," Ripa told the Aleksander. The actress and "Live! with Kelly and Michael" co-host said that she sometimes gets injections in her armpits to avoid sweating. "Every seven months or so my eyelid skin rests on my eyelashes. So I feel like it makes my makeup artist's life easier, and it makes my eyes look a little more open on TV, which is where I happen to work right now."
The story also highlights a day at the daytime talk show and a brief moment with Ripa's husband, actor Mark Consuelos, who talks about what it was like when he first met his future wife.
"I thought she was the coolest, sexiest chick," he said. "She smoked back then, and obviously I don't think smoking is cool now, but when you're 24 ... she was a really, really sexy smoker."
Ripa also recalled at time when she was acting on "All My Children" while pregnant with her first child, which was not written into the script, she received a note from a viewer who told her she needed to "eat a carrot" and that she was fat. She framed the note and hung it on her dressing room.
"I feel like as long as you take ownership over your own flaws, it doesn't hurt if someone else points them out," Ripa said.
