"Star Trek" actors Chris Pine and Zoe Saldana have been tapped to host the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Scientific and Technical Awards on Saturday, February 9. The organization behind the Oscars announced the news on Wednesday, January 16.
The two actors will present nine awards to 25 individual recipients during the evening. Portions of the award show will be included in the Oscar telecast.
"We are thrilled to have Chris and Zoe host the Sci-Tech Awards," Academy President Hawk Koch said in a statement. "Their film experience with the kind of technical advancements these awards honor makes them the perfect pair for the job."
Both Pine and Saldana will reprise their roles as Captain James T. Kirk and Uhura in the "Star Trek" sequel, "Star Trek Into Darkness," due out on May 17. Pine, who has an upcoming role in the film "Jack Ryan," has appeared in the animated feature "Rise of the Guardians," "People Like Us," "This Means War" and "Unstoppable."
Saldana has an upcoming role in the film "Blood Ties," with Mila Kunis and Marion Cotillard, due out later this year. Her other credits include "Colombiana," "Avatar" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl."
