It may be a match made in Americana heaven.
Kid Rock and fellow Detroit rocker Bob Seger are set to co-headline two concerts in March, after beginning individual tours. Kid Rock announced the news on his website on January 17 -- his 42nd birthday. Tickets go on sale on January 29.
"Bob Seger and Kid Rock are good friends who have talked about doing shows together for years," the message said. "Finally, this vision has become a reality. Both artists have been preparing for Spring tours. The trick was getting the tour schedules, which are crisscrossing the country, to match up."
"The result will be two special concerts featuring Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band and Kid Rock & The Twisted Brown Trucker Band: the first in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN on March 15, the second in Fargo, ND on March 16," it added.
Kid Rock says he and Seger, 67, became friends after they met in 2000. The younger musician inducted Seger in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 (watch video, below). In 2011, Kid Rock joined Bob Seger on stage at the Orlando Calling music festival (watch video, below).
The two have also collaborated on music projects in the past. They recorded a cover of Vince Gill's "Real Mean Bottle" for Seger's most recent album, the 2006 record "Face the Promise." Seger played piano on Kid Rock's duet with Sheryl Crow, "Collide," which is featured on the younger rocker's 2010 album "Born Free."
"Seger and his Silver Bullet Band have often rehearsed at Rock's rehearsal warehouse. Both share an interest in classic cars and both have stayed true to their Michigan roots," the message posted on Kid Rock's website added.
Seger, known for hits such as "Turn The Page," "Night Moves" and "Old Time of Rock and Roll," plans to begin his solo Rock and Roll Never Forgets tour on February 27 in Toledo, Ohio, while Kid Rock, who is currently promoting his 2012 album "Rebel Soul," is set to begin his 2013 Kid Rock Rebel Soul Tour on February 2 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Kid Rock and Bob Seger will perform at the following concerts:
March 15 - St. Paul, Minneapolis, Xcel Energy Center
March 16 - Fargo, North Dakota, Fargo Dome
