Annie's Homegrown Inc. says the problem was discovered when metal fragments were found in the flour and pizza dough at a third-party crust production facility. The fragments were traced back to a defective mesh screen at a third-party flour mill.
Some wire fragments are too small to be detected by metal detectors, so fragments may be lodged in finished pizzas, officials say.
No metal has been discovered in finished pizzas, and there have been no reports of injury.
The products recalled include Organic Pepperoni Pizza, Organic Supreme Pizza, Pepperoni Pizza, BBQ Recipe Chicken Pizza, Organic Four Cheese Pizza, Four Cheese Pizza and Organic Spinach and Mushroom Pizza.
