Oscar nominee Quvenzhane Wallis talked about her fantasy drama film, "Beasts of the Southern Wild."

The movie follows the journey of 6-year-old Hushpuppy, played by Wallis, who is faced with both her hot-tempered father's fading health and melting ice-caps that flood her ramshackle bayou community. Throughout her adventure, the courageous Hushpuppy must learn the ways of courage and love.

Wallis, who is the youngest person ever nominated for an Academy Award for best actress, talked about her young character's journey.

"Hushpuppy is a girl who lives with her dad," Wallis said. "Her dad is wild, and likes to go crazy sometimes."

Wallis is nominated for Best Leading Actress, along with Jessica Chastain of "Zero Dark Thirty," Jennifer Lawrence of "Silver Linings Playbook," Emmanuelle Riva of "Amour" and Naomi Watts of "The Impossible." This is the 9-year-old's first nomination.

The young actress, who is also set to appear in the Brad Pitt film "Twelve Years a Slave," talked about why she enjoyed working with director Benh Zeitlin.

"Working with Benh was fun because, we would always have fun times whenever he called break," Wallis continued. "And I always did something bad that makes him mad - so, he can't get angry."

Wallis, who stars in the film alongside Dwight Henry and Levy Easterly, went on to explain what audiences will enjoy most about the film.

"I think they'll like about how she was strong enough to let her daddy go."
