Michelle Williams has denied rumors of a Destiny's Child reunion at the Super Bowl halftime show featuring Beyonce on February 3.
In a recent interview with WRUG Media, which can be seen below, Williams was asked directly about the reports of a reunion and said that the reports are "not true."
"That's not confirmed. It is rumored. I'm going to be in the musical 'Fela!,'" she said. "I hate to disappoint the people and tell them that it's not true."
She later added, "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. But we did record a song with each other before the holidays."
Williams is currently gearing up for a tour of the musical "Fela!" The show starts in Washington, D.C. on January 29. Williams plays the role of Sandra Isadore in the musical is based on the Nigerian musician and activist Fela Anikulapo Kuti. Isadore was Fela's African-American lover.
Despite Williams' denial, the website for the production of "Fela!" notes that Williams will not be appearing in the play from January 31st to February 3, the day of the Super Bowl.
Williams previously dodged the reunion question when she appeared on "Good Morning America" on January 24.
"I wish that I could say and I know that you all showed some 'Fela!' rehearsals so that's what I've been doing and what I've been focusing on," she said when asked about the reunion.
Us Weekly first reported the possible reunion at the Super Bowl. The report claimed that Williams and fellow Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland will join Beyonce on stage midway through her halftime show to sing a medley of their hits including "Bills, Bills, Bills" and "Survivor." None of these details have been confirmed by any of the singers or the National Football League.
The group recently released their first single in years for their compilation album "Love Songs." The new single, co-written by Williams, is called "Nuclear" and is the group's first new recording since 2004.
