Tim McGraw appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Tuesday, February 5, and was a little embarrassed to reveal that he was going "commando."
The country music star was on to promote his latest album and DeGeneres highlighted a photo taken of McGraw and a fan that showed McGraw wearing a pair of "Ellen" underwear. Video of his interview can be seen below.
DeGeneres asked, "Are you wearing them [the underwear] right now?"
"No," McGraw replied.
"Why not?" DeGeneres asked.
"These pants were too tight to put underwear on," McGraw said with a laugh. "Now I've really embarrassed my daughters. What was I supposed to say?"
The comedian gives guests a pair of underwear with her name on the waistband every time they appear on the show, or at least she thought she did. McGraw commented on the fact that he had been on the show nine times and only received the pair he was photographed wearing. She attempted to remedy the situation by presenting him with a box full of "Ellen" underwear.
"It's always good to be honest around here," DeGeneres told McGraw after getting a little flustered. "Well, you look good."
McGraw has three daughters with singer Faith Hill, 15-year-old Gracie Katherine, 14-year-old Maggie Elizabeth and 11-year-old Audrey Caroline. The two country singers wed in October 1996.
McGraw also spoke about how he gave up drinking for the sake of his health and children.
"When it gets to the point where you feel like it's affecting you adversely and it's affecting your relationships adversely, it's time to make a change and I thought it was," he said. "I also thought my girls are getting older and I certainly wanted to have some good solid ground to stand on when I started talking to them about their situations."
The 45-year-old singer and actor's newest album "Two Lanes of Freedom" went on sale on February 5 and McGraw will hit the road to promote it on a 30-city tour in the spring.
"I'm in a good place right now," McGraw said last week when he first opened up about quitting drinking. "I really feel like this new album is not a culmination of the things I've done, it's a new beginning of the things I am going to do. I want to enjoy my career and having my family. I have a busy life, but it is a fulfilling life."
