OTRC: Anthony Edwards reveals why he signed on for 'Zero Hour' - See video

Anthony Edwards appears in an interview with OTRC.com in January 2013.

Anthony Edwards is a making a return to television with a lead role in the new ABC series "Zero Hour" and recently spoke to OTRC.com about why he signed on for the part.

The 50-year-old actor stars in the series as Hank Foley, a publisher of Modern Skeptic magazine whose wife Laila (Jacinda Barrett) is abducted by an international terrorist named "White Vincent" (Michael Nyqvist). Laila's kidnapping was sparked by her discovery of a mysterious antique clock at a Brooklyn flea market.

Foley gets help for the search for his wife from FBI Agent Rebecca "Beck" Riley (Carmen Ejogo) and his two magazine staffers, Rachel (Addison Timlin) and Arron (Scott Michael Foster). However, once they set out to find Laila, they discover that their mission is much more complicated.

"Zero Hour," which premieres on February 14, was created by "Prison Break" creator Paul Scheuring and Edwards said that it was Scheuring's involvement that got him interested in the project.

"He's the one who kind of brought us all on this journey," Edwards said. "He had this kind of epic idea of a story he wanted to tell and he sold it to ABC."

"I read this pilot script and went, 'Are you serious? You want to try and do this? If you're crazy enough to do this I want to be a part of it,'" Edwards added. "And to their credit we did it and we did it big and it tested well and they put us to series."

Edwards also teased that "the pilot may be good, but the episodes are better. So I'm happy."

The actor last appeared on television in a cameo role for a 2008 episode of "ER" where his beloved character appeared in a flashback. He also recently had a role in the film "Big Sur," which played at the Sundance Film Festival in January.

Edwards is likely best known for his roles in "Top Gun," "Revenge of the Nerds," "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" and "ER."

"Zero Hour" premieres on Thursday, February 14, on ABC at 8 p.m.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of OTRC.com and ABC.
