OTRC: 'I Love Jenni' to return, 4 months after Jenni Rivera's death

The third season of Jenni Rivera's reality show "I Love Jenni" will air in April and will feature some never-before-seen footage of the late Mexican-American singer in the weeks before her shocking death.

The cable channel mun2 announced the news in a statement on Tuesday. Rivera died at age 43 in a plane crash on December 9 in Mexico.

The new season kicks off on April 14 at 9 p.m. ET on mun2. Parts were filmed in the month before Rivera's death. The new episodes will also show Rivera's children Chiquis, Jacqui, Michael, Jenicka and Johnny and sister Rosie "as they create their life and preserve the legacy of their mother, sister and daughter."

The first episode will also be posted on the channel's website a day later, on April 15.

A week before the season 3, premiere, on April 7, mun2 will air a one-hour special celebrating Rivera, which will feature interviews with her celebrity friends, such as Thalia, Snoop Lion (formerly Snoop Dogg), Carson Daly, Mario Lopez, Diana Reyes,Tucanes de Tijuana, Horoscopos de Durango and Larry Hernandez.

Rivera, dubbed by fans as the "Diva de la Banda," has sold more than 15 million records in the Banda and Nortena music genres. In addition to her five children, she was survived by two grandchildren. Her youngest son, Johnny, 11, was among the speakers at her public memorial concert, which was attended by more than 6,000 people (watch video).

"It's a real honor to say that Jenni Rivera the person everybody is talking about, is my mom and that she still lives in me," he told the crowd tearfully. "This is the hardest thing I've ever had to go through in my life, but I am happy to say my mother has moved on and she's finally happy."
