Robin Roberts is due to appear on ABC's official pre-Oscars show on Oscar Sunday, four days after she is set to return to co-anchor the network's series "Good Morning America" following a bone marrow transplant.

"The Oscars Red Carpet Live" special will be hosted by her colleague Lara Spencer as well as Broadway and TV actress Kristin Chenoweth and Entertainment Weekly Managing Editor Jess Cagle, organizers announced on Thursday -- Valentine's Day. The one-hour show will air on February 24 at 4 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. ET on ABC, an hour before the 2013 Oscars.

Roberts, who has been on medical leave for five months, has covered the Oscars on the red carpet for ABC several times, including last year.

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences said in a statement on Thuesday she will make a "special appearance" on the pre-show, while the official Oscars.com website said she is returning for "a special Oscar assignment." It was not revealed whether Roberts would physically attend the event -- the busiest annual Hollywood show. Reps for the Academy and ABC had no immediate comment.

"So excited to cohost red carpet for #oscars with @RobinRoberts @laraspencer @jesscagleEW," Chenoweth, who had performed the song "That's How You Know" from Disney's Oscar-nominated film "Enchanted" at the 2008 ceremony, Tweeted on Thursday.

"Can't wait to see you...good times!" Roberts replied.

ROBIN ROBERTS' BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT RECOVERY

Roberts underwent her transplant in September and also went through chemotherapy to treat myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a rare blood disorder she says doctors suspect may have been caused by previous treatments she received for her breast cancer about five years ago. It was announced last week that she will return to "GMA" on February 20.

Roberts talked about her ordeal in a People magazine cover story, saying she at one point felt like she was "dying" and was unable to eat, drink or get out of bed days afer her surgery.

"I was in a coma-like state," she said. "I truly felt I was slipping away ? then I kept hearing my name."

Roberts' sister Sally-Ann had donated bone marrow for her transplant.

"Wishing my wonderful big sister, Sally-Ann, the happiest birthday!" Roberts Tweeted on Thursday. "She is a true gift on this Valentine's Day. XO"
