OTRC: Rapper Jim Jones arrested for disorderly conduct

Rapper Jim Jones has been arrested after allegedly becoming belligerent while being questioned by police about two oustanding warrants given for $193 worth of unpaid road citations.

The 37-year-old former recurring star of VH1 reality show "Love & Hip Hop" and member of rap group The Diplomats has not commented. Jones, whose real name is Joseph G. Jones, was arrested on the morning of February 13 in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, where he lives.

Police told NorthJersey.com that an officer had questioned Jones about a ticketed car parked on a snowy street since February 8. They said he agreed to move it and pay a fee. The officer then discovered he had two outstanding warrants and he stopped cooperating after he was asked about them, the report said.

One warrant had been issued in 2011 over an unpaid $43 ticket given for failure to remove snow from a sidewalk, while the other one, worth $150, was issued in 2010 and was given for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle, the website said. Police said the officer began to arrest Jones, who then became belligerent.

The Fair Lane-SaddleBrooke Patch community website reported that when the officer asked Jones to go with him to police headquarters to settle the warrants, Jones denied they existed, became disorderly and tried to walk away as the sergeant was placing him under arrest.

He was booked in a local jail and released after posting bail. He is due in court on February 27 to face police charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction.
