Sarah Michelle Gellar may be returning to television but this time the actress known as the star of the cult television series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" will try her hand at comedy.
The 35-year-old actress has been cast opposite Robin Williams in the CBS half-hour workplace comedy pilot called "Crazy Ones," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The single-camera show is about the relationship between a man named Simon Roberts (Williams) and his daughter Sydney Roberts (to be played by Gellar) and is set at their advertising agency.
Gellar's character is described by the report as "pretty, intense, driven, organized and burdened with being practical."
"Boston Legal" and "Ally McBeal" scribe David E. Kelley will write the pilot which will also star "Political Animals" actor James Wolk as a copywriter at the agency.
Gellar previously starred as twins in the short-lived drama series "Ringer." The series was canceled in May after just one season. The actress rose to fame while playing the title role on "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," which ended its run in 2003 after seven seasons and earned her a large fan following. She also starred in the movie "Cruel Intentions" in 1999.
In September, Gellar and her husband, actor Freddie Prinze Jr., welcomed a son named Rocky James Prinze. The couple also has a 3-year-old daughter named Charlotte.
Gellar and Prinze Jr., 36, met while filming the 1997 thriller "I Know What You Did Last Summer." They later appeared in two other films together - "Scooby-Doo" in 2002, the year they wed, and the sequel, "Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed" in 2004.
