OTRC: Gilles Marini goes shopping with OTRC before 2013 Oscars, talks fashion

Gilles Marini talks to OTRC.com correspondent Tina Malave at the Fragola fashion showroom in West Hollywood, California before the Oscar ceremony, which takes place on Feb. 24, 2013.

Gilles Marini recently went shopping with OTRC.com's Tina Malave, who is co-hosting OTRC.com's LIVE STREAM pre-Oscars show on Oscar Sunday on February 24.

Marini, a former "Dancing With The Stars" competitor who is known for his roles in "Sex and the City" the movie, ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" and ABC Family's "Switched at Birth," used to work as a model. The French actor (and recently naturalized American citizen) offered his expertise about walking the red carpet.

"Probably we get a little less nervous than the ladies because really the attention is toward them all the time," he said. "But I just see the way they pose and how they sweat before they get into the red carpet. For us, it's a little bit more relaxed but it's true that as soon as you get a photographer taking pictures of you on the red carpet, for life, it's there, somewhere. So you gotta kinda pay attention."

He tried on several items at Fragola, a luxury fashion showroom in West Hollywood that is owned by UFC fighter Cheick Kongo, a friend of the actor.

"When I'm going to a carpet [event] or whatnot, I love black," Marini said. "I love black on black, with a black tie. It's very classy."

Marini is preparing to attend Elton John's annual Oscars after party on Oscar Sunday and plans to bring his wife with him.

"It is one of those parties where you actually really, all year long, you think about one party where you have to look really good," he said. "And that would be that."

Before the Oscars, Malave and Lawrence Zarian will co-host OTRC.com's pre-Oscars show LIVE STREAM that day at 4:30 p.m. ET / 1:30 p.m. PT with a VERY special guest -- "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Brandi Glanville, who will serve as a fashion correspondent.

You can also watch the red carpet arrivals -- and footage of stars going to after parties -- on TV in more than 50 U.S. cities and 30 countries on Oscar Sunday by watching "On The Red Carpet at the Oscars." Check out more details about the TV specials, which will feature host Rachel Smith as well as George Pennachio of OTRC.com's parent company KABC Television.
