This marked the second marriage for both Brolin, 45, and Lane, 48. They wed on Aug. 15, 2004. Lane said irreconcilable differences were the reason for their split and cited February 13 as the official date they separated, according to a copy of the divorce papers obtained by OTRC.com. She signed the documents on Valentine's Day and had them filed at a Los Angeles court the following day.

The couple had actually parted ways several months ago, a source close to the matter told OTRC.com.

Both Lane and Brolin began their first marriages to other people in 1988. The actress was previously married to "Highlander" actor Christopher Lambert for five years, until 1994. They share a daughter. Brolin was married to actress Alice Adair from 1988 to 1992. They share a son and daughter.

The news about Lane's and Brolin's split comes more than a month after the actor was arrested on New Year's Day for misdemeanor public intoxication in Santa Monica, California. He was detained just before midnight on New Year's Day after police found him drunk on a sidewalk in the city.

This was not Brolin's first brush with the law. In 2004, he was arrested for spousal battery at the home he shared with wife Diane Lane. However, a spokesperson for the actor said at the time, according to People magazine, that it was "a misunderstanding" and that Lane did not want to press charges.

Lane is known for her role in films such as "The Perfect Storm," "Unfaithful," "Under the Tuscan Sun" and "Jumper."

Brolin is known for his roles in films such as "American Gangster," "No Country for Old Men," "W." and "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps."
