Derek Hough and sister Julianne Hough have danced together on "Dancing With The Stars" and now they're teaming up again -- this time, as co-producers.

The two are set to executive-produce a scripted dance-themed series titled "Blackpool" for the cable channel Starz, home of the raunchy gladiator series "Spartacus." The Hough siblings' show "will explore the dancer's obsession with perfection and the darker side of the glamorous world of ballroom dance," according to a statement posted on Julianne's website on Tuesday, February 26.

In a February 2013 interview with Cosmopolitan magazine, Hough said she suffered mental and physical abuse when she was a child studying dance in London. She declined to name her abusers.

"I was 10 years old looking like I was 28, being a very sensual dancer," she told the magazine. "I was a tormented little kid who had to put on this sexy facade because that was my job and my life. But my heart was the same, and I was this innocent little girl. I wanted so much love."

Julianne, 24, and her brother, 27, do not plan on appearing on the show themselves at the time time, but will also serve as head choreographs and be involved in the casting process, the Hollywood Reporter said.

"Deeper than spray tans and sequins"

"Blackpool," the statement added, "shows a fictionalized view of the dance world they both grew up in, which included the prestigious annual ballroom dance competition in Blackpool, England."

The Houghs, whose parents and grandparents were also dancers, had as children moved from their native Utah to England to train with the parents of "Dancing With The Stars" pro-dancer Mark Ballas, who were champion dancers. Julianne and Ballas became dance partners and took part in competitions around the world.

"I cannot wait to give audiences a fictionalized view of the world that I experienced growing up," Derek said in the statement. "Viewers are going to see a twisted, sexy, funny, dark and passionate side of the drama and politics in the world of ballroom dance that delves deeper than spray tans and sequins."

In a 2002 interview with the UK newspaper The Guardian in 2002, a then-13-year-old Julianne said: "'I have to put fake tan on and I try to go on the sun-bed a lot because you can look a little orange if you put too much cream on," awhen asked about her beauty regimen.

The Houghs and Ballas were also once part of a pop and dance trio called 2B1G. About five years ago, they all became pro-dancers on "Dancing With The Stars."

Julianne was a cast member from season 4 in spring 2007 to season 8 in spring 2009. Derek and Ballas joined the show in season 5, in August 2007, and will appear on the upcoming 16th season (Check out the new celebrity cast of "Dancing With The Stars".) Ballas' father Corky competed on seasons 7 and 11. Derek and Julianne have danced together on the show.

After she left "Dancing With the Stars," Julianne went on to pursue an acting career. She previously starred in three musical movies -- the 2010 movie "Burlesque," with Cher, Christina Aguilera and Kristen Bell and the 2011 films "Footloose," a remake of the 1984 cult classic, and "Rock of Ages," which flopped at the box office. She stars in the new film "Safe Haven" with Josh Duhamel.

The film marks Julianne's first drama role and features several romantic scenes. Derek joked to OTRC.com at the premiere of "Safe Haven" earlier this month that he and their father would not watch them (Check out Derek's interview).
