Michelle Williams and Jason Segel are going their separate ways.
The 32-year old starlet and the "How I Met Your Mother" actor have split after dating for about one year, according to People magazine.
The outlet quotes an unnamed source as saying that the long distance, with Williams based in New York City and Segel residing in Los Angeles, was the reason behind the breakup.
In July 2012, Williams' rep confirmed to OTRC.com that the pair did not get engaged during San Diego Comic-Con, despite swirling rumors.
The actress had attended Comic-Con in 2012 to promote her upcoming film, "Oz: The Great and Powerful" and while she was on the West Coast, Segel was photographed walking hand-in-hand with her daughter Matilda in Brooklyn, New York.
The pair were romantically linked for about one year and were spotted holding hands together in Brooklyn and Los Angeles.
Segel confirmed their low-profile relationship on an episode of "Extra" in April 2012, saying, "I think we would just very much like to be happy. That's all I'm going to say about it."
Segel has been previously linked to his "Freaks and Geeks" co-star Linda Cardellini. Michelle Williams was previously engaged to the late Heath Ledger, who is the father of Matilda. Ledger died at age 28 in 2008. She was then linked to director Spike Jonze.
Segel is best known for his role as Marshall Eriksen on the comedy "How I Met Your Mother" and for films like "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," "I Love You, Man" and "The Muppets."
Williams was nominated for an Oscar for her role as Marilyn Monroe in the film "My Week With Marilyn." She won a Golden Globe for her work in the film. She has also starred in films like "Blue Valentine," which also earned her an Academy Award nomination, "Brokeback Mountain" and "Shutter Island."
"Oz: The Great and Powerful" hits theaters on March 8. Watch a trailer for the film below and check out photos of Williams and co-stars James Franco, Mila Kunis and Rachel Weisz at the movie's Los Angeles premiere.
