"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" has found its Norman Osborn, according to reports.
Chris Cooper has been cast in the sequel as the head of the Osborn family, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The character of Norman Osborn is notable because he is the alter ego of one of Spider-Man's most notorious villains -- the Green Goblin.
Willem Dafoe played Osborn/the Green Goblin in the initial Spider-Man trilogy, which was directed by Sam Raimi and starred Tobey Maguire.
According to the report, it is not yet known if Cooper will portray the Green Goblin in the upcoming film.
The actor is an Oscar winner and nabbed the award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2002 film "Adaptation." He recently played the villain Tex Richman in the 2011 film "The Muppets" and has appeared in several of the "Bourne" franchise films as well as "The Town," "Syriana" and "Capote."
It was previously reported that "In Treatment" actor Dane DeHaan will play Norman's son Harry Osborne. Shailene Woodley of "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" has been cast as Mary Jane Watson.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" will also feature Oscar winner Jamie Foxx in a villain role. Foxx will play Spider-Man's enemy Electro and alter ego Max Dillon.
