Jurupa Valley brush fire fully contained

JURUPA VALLEY, Calif.

Firefighters were working to kill hotspots Saturday. They hoped to have the blaze fully contained at around 8 p.m., but did so at 6 p.m. As of Saturday morning, the fire had charred about 311 acres.

At its peak, the fire downed power lines and burned near a residential area, prompting a call for voluntary evacuations.

No injuries were reported, but a backyard trailer went up in flames, presumably lit by flying embers.

Authorities have not confirmed what started the fire, though it was believed the fire may have been sparked by downed power lines. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
