Russell Crowe may have put the truth out there ... on YouTube.
The Oscar-winning actor on Tuesday Tweeted a link to a video showing a timelapse of photos of what appears to be a red, beaming object in the sky, above trees. The YouTube clip's caption states, "UFO? Time Lapse Photos Outside RC's Woolloomooloo Office (THESE ARE REAL!)." It was posted on by user "ParallelUniverse1234," whose account was created the same day.
"A friend and i set camera to capture fruit bats rising from Botanic Gardens," Crowe Tweeted. "This was a big surprise. (sic)"
"I will grant you at the time the music wasn't playing," he added. "Also, yes, we have pushed in on the frame..this is 3 photo's in order, nothing added."
Crowe lives in Woolloomooloo, a suburb of Sydney, Australia. His spokesperson Grant Vandenberg told the Sydney Morning Herald: "Yes, he Tweeted it yesterday - and he has got a movie being released today."
Crow is currently promoting the film "Broken City," a crime thriller that was released in the United States in January and hits theaters in several countries, including Australia, later this week and throughout the next month. He appears opposite Mark Wahlberg in the movie. (Check out Mr. Moviefone's review of "Broken City.")
I'm telling ya @Hughes2Society made a good film," Crowe Tweeted early on Wednesday, March 6. "@BrokenCityMov opens in Australia Friday @mark_wahlberg @talalona."
Crowe aso reTweeted message from another user, who asked: "@russellcrowe I reckon the Aliens maybe stopped by Earth to check out Broken City?"
Crowe recently appeared as Javert in the musical film "Les Miserables" and performed with the cast at the 2013 Oscars (see 12 best moments from the show). He was not nominated for an Oscar but did win one in 2001, for "Gladiator."
Crowe actually plays an alien in another new film -- he portrays Superman's father Jor-El in "Man of Steel," which hits theaters on June 14. (Check out more information about the film.)
