OTRC: Morrissey cancels North American tour dates due to 'medical mishaps'

Morrissey has canceled the rest of his North American tour dates after suffering several medical setbacks.

"The singer has suffered a series of medical mishaps over the past few months including a bleeding ulcer, Barrett's esophagus, and double pneumonia," Morrissey's spokesperson said in a statement released on Friday, March 15, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Fans will be able to get refunds where they purchased their tickets. Morrissey canceled 22 remaining dates in total.

Earlier this month, the 53-year-old canceled several performances due to pneumonia, The Associated Press reports. In January, Morrissey was hospitalized in Michigan with a suspected bladder infection and canceled two tour dates as a result.

He did recently take the stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on March 1. The singer reportedly successfully got the venue to agree to go meatless for the concert. The former Smiths frontman is a vegetarian as well as an animal rights activist.

Morrissey was born Steven Patrick Morrissey and rose to fame with The Smiths in the 1980s before heading out to have a successful solo career after the band broke up in 1987.
