Monterey Park man shot by home intruder

A man was shot and wounded as he entered his home during a brazen robbery in Monterey Park Friday.

Police responded to a shooting call in the 900 block of Moonbeam Drive at about 8:17 p.m. and found a man suffering from a chest wound.

According to authorities, the male victim was shot after he and his wife entered their home and interrupted a burglary.

The unidentified man was transported to the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

No information on how the suspects entered the home was released.

Witnesses said two male Hispanics were seen running southbound on Moonbeam Drive from the location.
