Lisa Rinna, who is known for her signature pout, opened up about her lip trouble on "Today."
"Here's the story: 25 years ago, I had my lips injected with silicone. Stupid thing to do at 24," Rinna told Hoda Kotb on March 18.
The 49-year-old television star went on to explain that the decision was inspired by Bette Midler's 1988 comedy drama, "Beaches."
"I did it with my best girlfriend, so she and I go and we get our lips done," she continued. "Fine. I have it like that for my whole career, right? So then cut to a couple of years ago, I have a doctor remove as much as they possibly can because it got to the point where they were yucky. You know, they get hard. It's gross. So they are now whatever that was after they took out as much of the silicone as they could."
In August 2010, the actress underwent surgery to reduce the size of her upper lip. Later that year, she told People magazine: "My lips started to define who I am -- that bothered me."
Rinna went on to explain that she doesn't have any regrets, adding that she considers herself a "lip injection pioneer."
"I never had a career before I had the lips," Rinna said. "So my lips have had their own career."
Rinna is known for her role as Billie Reed on the soap opera "Days of Our Lives" and also played Taylor McBride on the original "Melrose Place" in the 1990s.
