ABC's new reality show "Splash" premiered on March 19 and features several sexy stars and familiar faces you may know from your parents' VHS collection participating in diving challenges.

The competitors' tasks will become more difficult after every episode, which will air on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on the network throughout the next few weeks, and the 10 contestants will be eliminated gradually until one is deemed the winner. Each dive will be critiqued by the judges -- Olympic U.S. Gold medalist David Boudia and Olympic athlete and USA Dive Team director Steve Foley.

Check out 5 facts about "Splash," which airs at 8 p.m. ET.

1. Woah! Check out who's hosting.

Joey Lawrence of ABC Family's "Melissa and Joey" and formerly of "Blossom is co-hosting the series with Charissa Thompson, known for being a presenter of the ESPN show "SportsNation."

2. The 10 contestants include three '80s icons and three women who have worn bikinis on TV.

The cast is made up of retired NBA player and "Airplane!" actor Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, extreme skier Rory Bushfield, comedian Louie Anderson -- who starred in the 1988 cult comedy film "Coming To America," Drake Bell of "Drake & Josh" fame, Chuy Bravo of "Chelsea Lately," "Baywatch" alum Nicole Eggert, Keshia Knight Pulliam -- aka Rudy from the 1980s sitcom "The Cosby Show," NFL player Ndamukong Suh of the Detroit Lions, E! reality star and ex-girlfriend of Playboy's Hugh Hefner, Kendra Wilkinson and Katherine Webb, Miss Alabama USA 2012 and a Miss USA contestant who became famous after appearing on TV during the BCS National Championship Game, when she cheered on her boyfriend).

"It's 'Dancing With The Stars' in the water," Anderson told OTRC.com about "Splash." "You're going to see all the good, the bad and the ugly."

3. Celebrities face their fear ... of water.

"Are you ever ready to climb up all those stairs and look out and dive into 17 feet of water? You're not," Anderson told OTRC.com. "But it has been a wonderful experience on so many levels. I've gotten healthier. It's really good to overcome some of your fears."

Olympic gold medalist Greg Louganis, who serves as the show's diving mentor, added that it is "very inspirational" to be able to show the celebrity contestants' experiences overcoming their fears, adding that several were "terrified of being in the water" and were "learning how to swim late in life."

4. Best way to overcome swimming fears? Dolphin rides.

"The thing that surprised me most when I first signed on, they told me that I was going to have a celebrity that was afraid of the water," Louganis said. "I'm like going, 'They signed up for a dive show?' What's up with that?" So it really kind of challenged my imagination trying to be in the water, make that enjoyable, bring the joy and that little kid inside."

"So, threw change on the bottom of the shallow end, they had to retrieve that, " he said. "And then I gave them dolphin rides. You know, bring the joy and fun into the process."

5. And ... Splat.

"There's a few belly flops already recorded," Anderson said. "They record every single thing."
