OTRC: Reese Witherspoon in negotiations to produce 'The Engagements,' reports say

Reese Witherspoon is reportedly in talks to produce a film adaptation of the upcoming J. Courtney Sullivan novel "The Engagements."

According to Variety, Fox 2000 has acquired the rights to the novel and is in negotiations with Witherspoon and her producing partner, Bruna Papandrea, to produce the film through her Pacific Standard production company.

The novel, which will be published in June, follows a diamond engagement ring from the 1930s to present day and connects five different relationships. The entertainment news outlet called the story "deeply romantic."

It is unclear if Witherspoon will star or appear in the film. Witherspoon is also a producer of the upcoming film adaptation of the New York Times bestselling novel "Gone Girl."

In September, Witherspoon welcomed a son with husband Jim Toth named Tennessee James. The baby boy is Witherspoon's third child and first with Toth, who she married in March 2011.

She was previously married to actor Ryan Phillippe from 1999 to 2006. The actors are parents to daughter Ava and son Deacon.

Singer Michael Buble also recently revealed that Witherspoon was one of the first people to find out about his baby news after he called the actress to ask her to do a duet for his new album.

Witherspoon ended up collaborating with Buble on the duet "Something Stupid" for the singer's upcoming album "To Be Loved," due out on April 23.
