Seth Rogen has reportedly signed on to co-direct, produce and star in the upcoming film "The Interview."
The film may also potentially star James Franco, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The outlet notes that negotiations with Franco have not begun yet.
Franco has previously worked with Rogen in "Pineapple Express" and the upcoming film "This Is the End." Earlier this month, Rogen spoke at Franco's star ceremony on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The two have known each other since they were 16 years old and also previously starred together on the sitcom "Freaks and Geeks."
Rogen also co-wrote the script for "The Interview" with his frequent collaborator, Evan Goldberg, and "The Daily Show" writer Dan Sterling. Goldberg will also co-direct and produce the film with Rogen. Rogen and Goldberg also co-directed and co-wrote "This Is the End."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "The Interview" revolves around a handsome talk show host, which will be potentially played by Franco, and his producer (Rogen) who get involved in a plot to assassinate the prime minister of North Korea.
Rogen and Franco will next be seen together in "This Is the End." The film follows five actors playing fictional versions of themselves after a series of cataclysmic events destroy Los Angeles. The film also stars Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride and Craig Robinson. Celebrities like Emma Watson, Rihanna, Paul Rudd and Mindy Kaling also have small roles as themselves in the film.
"This Is the End" hits theaters on June 14.
