Boy caught in Long Beach gunfire, hospitalized; gunman sought

LOS ANGELES

Police say the incident began around 8 p.m. at a gas station near Long Beach and Del Amo boulevards. A group of men were involved in an argument that escalated into gunfire. The boy, who is believed to be about 10 years old, was sitting in a car with his parents when he was wounded. The parents then rushed to a nearby police station.

"They contacted police there, who in turn transported that minor to a local hospital," said Nancy Pratt with Long Beach police.

The boy is listed in critical but stable condition, according to Pratt.

Police say an adult male was also hit by the gunfire. He transported himself to a hospital and his condition is unknown.

Anyone with information on the suspects in this shooting is asked to call Long Beach Police at (562) 570-7250.
