The comedy series "Cougar Town," starring Courteney Cox, has been renewed for a fifth season, which will mark the second one that will air on TBS.
The show, which also features Josh Hopkins as the actress' character's new husband and Busy Philipps as her protégé, moved to the cable network from ABC earlier this year following lackluster ratings. TBS announced in a statement on Monday, March 25, that it has ordered 13 new "Cougar Town" episodes, which are expected to air in 2014."Cougarism: A wine-wine situation," TBS said in an image-based press release. "'Cougar Town' is renewed for another new season on TBS: Win-win and everybody drinks."
TBS said in its statement that since the show moved to the cable channel, it has drawn an audience with a median age that is seven years younger than the one that watched its third season on ABC. TBS added that "Cougar Town" ranks as its top original primetime series among viewers between ages 18 and 49.
"Cougar Town has been everything we hoped it would be: a smart, big-hearted, laugh-out-loud comedy that shines a bright light on the TBS brand," said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies (TCM).
"This season, the brilliant cast and immensely creative production team on 'Cougar Town' have crafted their best episodes yet, and we couldn't be happier inviting them back for more," he said.
The season 4 finale of "Cougar Town is set to air on April 9.
