"Dancing With The Stars" contestant Andy Dick got a big show of support from some old pals on Monday, March 25 -- Sara Rue, Zachary Levi and other former co-stars from the comedy series "Less Than Perfect" turned up at the taping to cheer him on.
This marked the first full cast reunion since the series ended its four-season run in 2006. Dick played Owen Kronsky, Claude's friend and co-worker.
"It's miraculous because it was five years where it was tough for me." Dick told OTRC.com. "I did 'NewsRadio,' where I played an office weirdo and then I was doing it again and I felt like weird about it and I was in a weird place and I kind of put those guys through hell. I just, I did, and they were always trying to lift me up.
"And they did a lot -- all of them, espcially Sherri Shepherd," he said. "She did get everybody together. And Eric Roberts' wife, Eliza. And to see them [at 'Dancing With The Stars], it kind of made me scared to know they were there. My family's been there every week, last week and this week, but to know that they were there was a little bit nerve-racking. But then right when the dance was over, I was so happy they were there and I cried."
Dick recalled filming an episode of "Less Than Perfect" where he played "an amazing ballroom dancer."
"I couldn't do it and I drank that night during the taping of the show," the actor and comedian told OTRC.com. "It was a disaster. Embarrassing. And I was dancing with Andrea Parker, who is a dancer, by the way, and it's not a night I'd like ... I don't even remember it."
Check out which "Less Than Perfect" alumni attended the reunion on "Dancing With The Stars" and what they had to say about Dick, who had on last week's premiere of the ABC show talked about his past history of substance abuse and legal issues.
Sara Rue -- she played Claude, who works for a TV station, on "Less Than Perfect" and now stars on the ABC sitcom "Malibu Country" with Reba McEntire.
"We love Andy and you know, he's doing so well. We've seen in him in good times and in not-so-good times and this seems to be a really good time for him and so we all want to come out and support and encourage that because we love that Andy so much," Rue told OTRC.com, adding that she was "really proud" of Dick for talking about his addiction problems on "Dancing With The Stars."
Zachary Levi -- he played the often conniving Kipp on "Less Than Perfect" and later played the title role on NBC's "Chuck." He and Rue exchanged a heart-warming moment -- a brief kiss -- behind the scenes of "Dancing With The Stars."
"Andy has a special place in our hearts, for many reasons and yeah, we've seen him go through some really tough times and we've all really stood together in those tough times and it's a special for Andy to be doing this show and to see him healthy and happy and smiling," Levi told OTRC.com.
"And it's really special for me to get to see these guys [from 'Less Than Perfect'] because we don't get to see each other enough," he added. "And so if it takes 'Dancing With The Stars' to get us all back together, then I say 'Amen."
Sherri Shepherd -- the comedienne and current co-host of ABC's "The View" played Claude's friend Ramona on "Less Than Perfect." She also competed on "Dancing With The Stars" herself in 2012. (Check out OTRC.com's exit interview with Sherri Shepherd.)
Shepherd joked during her interview with OTRC.com that she wanted a "Less Than Perfect" movie to be made.
"We stick together like glue," she said. "We are truly, truly a family. So even though we don't see each other often, when we get together, it is all love."
Andrea Parker -- she played Lydia, Claude's nemesis, on "Less Than Perfect."
"We're family -- have been for years," she told OTRC.com. "Always will be."
Eric Roberts -- he played egomaniac TV news anchor Will, Claude's boss, on "Less Than Perfect."
"I love Andy Dick like family. He's a relative. I have to support him," Roberts told OTRC.com, adding, jokingly: "He's very athletic. He's smart and he's crazy."
Patrick Warburton -- he played Jeb, also a news anchor and Lydia's boyfriend, on "Less Than Perfect." The actor is also known for his role as David Puddy from "Seinfeld" and the voice of Kronk in Disney's "The Emperor's New Groove."
"Andy's got some very special friends here. We're all very supportive," he told OTRC.com, adding, jokingly: "If he blows it, not afraid. I'll step right in."
One of the 12 couples is expected to be eliminated on Tuesday, March 26.
