OTRC: Sean Penn's son Hopper, 19, regrets hurling racial, anti-gay slurs at photographer

Sean Penn's 19-year-old son Hopper Penn says he regrets his "choice of words" after he hurled racial and anti-gay slurs at a photographer during a confrontation in Beverly Hills, California.

A paparazzo's video of the incident, which occurred on Tuesday, March 26, was posted on TMZ (warning: Contains offensive and explicit language). Sean, 52, wearing a sweatshirt and baseball cap, is seen entering an office building that houses various medical practices, while a dog is heard barking in the background and other photographers snap pictures.

Hopper, wearing a hoodie, walks towards the entrance several seconds later. He then appears to push the photographer, whose camera wobbles as fellow paparazzi continue taking pictures. The photographer, who is black, shouts at the actor's son, while Hopper walks into the building and gives him the finger. As the man continues to protest angrily, Hopper hurls racial and anti-gay slurs at him.

In a statement posted by the website of the "Today" show, Hopper said: "I was accosted by paparazzi and made to feel like an animal -- threatened and under attack, but that does not condone my own actions. ... I deeply regret my choice of words."

Police arrived at the scene following the confrontation but the photographer declined to press charges and no arrests were made, according to E! Online.

Sean had himself famously gotten into a confrontation with a photographer in 2009. He pleaded no contest to vandalism charges stemming from the incident and was sentenced to 36 hours of anger management sessions and three years probation after reaching a plea deal.

Hopper's mother is Sean's ex-wife and "Princess Bride" actress Robin Wright. She and the actor are also parents to a 21-year-old daughter, Dylan.
